About that month of Thanks….

I obviously didn’t even make it halfway. Oops. I apparently need to work on follow through 🙂 At least the last day I did do was a good one…. maybe that was enough to carry me through to Thanksgiving.

Anyway. In the time in between, I went to a ladies retreat, we celebrated Thanksgiving, found out Lincoln has a peanut allergy, and said goodbye to our besties for a few weeks while they vacation in the states. So, it’s a complete mixture of happy and sad around here. As of today, we have 26 days left before this chapter of our life closes and I’m not sure how I feel about it. Most days, I just kid of pretend like it’s not happening. But then, there are the boxes and suitcases that are starting to fill up the empty space in our apartment. And the sad conversations with my best friend here every time we hang out and acknowledge that we only get to see each other a few more times. Don’t get me wrong, I miss life in America. It’s easy and comfortable and I know how to cook and there are childcare options at the church and the gym and family is close….. but I seriously never thought we would live there again. I thought we would just pop in for a few months here and there, hang out with people, then come back. The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.

Now, on to the funny stories of the day:

1. We went to our best friends’ house today and made mexican food for them 🙂 We’ve been trying to make it happen for a while and finally we’re all available and healthy (enough), so we made enchiladas and salsa and took a big bag of chips. As Josh is finishing up with the enchiladas, my friend and I hear him yell, “LINCOLN,” followed by a thud. Needless god say, I jumped up and ran…. and there’s Lincoln, screaming, covered in salsa. He had pulled the table cloth… and dumped the salsa everywhere. I COULD NOT stop laughing. And he was so terrified. I’m so bummed I didn’t get a picture, but he was just so upset! But man it was funny.

2. I got on the elevator when we got home and our new neighbor got in with me. She said, “So, you’re leaving, huh?” Yes, yes we are, neighbor who’s been here for 2 weeks. Glad news travels fast! At least it stopped being creepy a while ago.
