Apologies for the lull in posting…. mom and dad got here, then both our computers crashed within a week. Insane. So, now we have a new netbook to last us until someone comes from the states and can bring in a new computer. It’s pretty pathetic how dependent we are on our computer. Just try writing a real email from an iPod and you’ll understand.
I cannot believe Lincoln is a month old (as of yesterday)! It seriously flew by…. I know everyone tells you that will happen, but at 1 or 2 weeks in, it didn’t feel like it. Then my parents came and all the sudden they’re already back in the states and Lincoln is a month old. Geez.
So, at 1 month the boy weighs 4.45 kg and is 53 cm tall. He’s so squirmy all the time…. his arms are always moving and his legs are always kicking. Not that we expected anything different given how Josh and I are, but anyway. He doesn’t really have a schedule yet, which is understandable considering we’ve not been super busy and in the car for half of his life. This week one of the goals is to attempt to start moving towards a schedule. That would be awesome and help out this type-A momma toooons. It is nice to be back in our place with no plans to go anywhere out of town again til October. Whew. This will be the longest stretch of time we’ve been in this city since we moved here. Sad, I know.
Hangin’ out with Sherlock. He’s even got his arm around him 🙂
More about Lincoln. He love bath time already, until we take him out and then he screams. At least it’s warm weather and as soon as he’s in the towel he’s fine. He’s a big fan of the pacie…. and it took a lot of convincing by everyone else for me to give it to him. Everything I read said to wait until they were a month so there’s no issue with nursing, but he’s still nursing well and gaining weight, so no problem there. Well, problem there…. but not because of the pacifier. More because he will not stay still and calm. It takes double the time for him to eat because he keeps moving. Crazy boy.
He did celebrate his sünnet günü while mom and dad were here…. and I’m so glad they were here!! I definitely made mom give him the suppository pain killer. Couldn’t do it. He screamed until it dissolved. But, he healead well and fast and now he’s all good. And we even have a souvenier:
Yes, they put the removed portion in a test tube for you to take home. What in the world are we supposed to do with this?? I mean, we’re gonna throw it away, of course…. but seriously. Why?!?! And what do normal people here do with it? Gross.
So, the parents came to visit… and it was soooo nice!!! I loved having them here. We have way more pictures, but for now there are only a few on the netbook…. everything else is on the hard drive among the things we salvaged from my computer before it crashed. At some point, I plan to post pictures from their trip, but for now just a few.
Lincoln with Nana. I know people do it all the time, but having a baby without my mom here was hard. And I didn’t even realize it until she came and then left again. Just having someone here to ask all my questions to and help out with small things was sooo great. And just to see mom was awesome. It’s been a year and a half. I also realized that it was maybe a good thing that mom wasn’t able to be at the airport when we left the states because if it had been anything like this I would have been a basket case. I’m sure it had more to do with hormones and culture stress and sleep deprivation, but I couldn’t even talk on the way back to the hotel after we dropped mom and dad off.
This one cracks me up… they almost have the same facial expression.
I LOVE this picture. My dad was pretty funny with Lincoln. He loved holding him and playing with him… until he cried, at which point he handed him off to the nearest person. 🙂 And this was his first trip overseas and I really think he enjoyed himself. He even mentioned possibly coming back next year – never thought that would happen!!! I’m so glad he liked it here.
This is the I’m-so-sad-they’re-leaving picture.
Mom and I with the sleeping boy… it was almost 11pm. Thus the exhaustion and excessive tears.
One last picture with the grandparents. Mom totally rode the whole way to the capital holding Lincoln’s hand (when he wasn’t awake… you can’t hold his hand when he’s awake because they don’t stop long enough to grab them).
And, mom and dad totally brought us toooooons of goodies. Well, mostly for Lincoln, but we did get some things 🙂 Lincoln is set for a while. His gifts were from various friends and family… including an insane amount of goodies from Morgan!!! Love it all, of course. My grandmother sent the handmade blanket she made…. so special. It all got pretty mixed up and we’re not entirely sure what’s from who for the most part… so thanks to everyone 🙂 There is one gift in the mix that was unmistakeable from a friend’s mom back home and of course I had to get a picture.
There are 2 more burp cloths… but I have to admit, I use them more than any others I have now, so they’re dirty. But, how cute is all this stuff!!!! I can’t wait for him to be big enough to wear these onesies 🙂
Another gift came in the mail last week, too… and those pictures are on the hard drive, so they’ll be up eventually.
If you made it through this tremendously long post, thanks for reading 🙂 And I’ll try to update more frequently now that we have a computer again and I’m not completely exhausted all the time.
