Boooo sickness.

So, not the best week ever. I have a ridiculous cold that came completely out of nowhere and Lincoln is going through a growth spurt (at least I assume so) and is eating alll the time and not sleeping all that great. Or maybe it’s that I can’t entirely read his sleepy signals yet and put him down too soon and then he just cat naps. Either way, he’s up a lot and eating a lot and I’m sick…. all of which contribute to me being exhausted. Days like today I’m super, super thankful that Josh doesn’t have a 9-5 job and can play with the little guy so I can nap a bit.

So, how bout some pictures. We went to a wedding last week, the sister of a good friend here. That’s about the extent of this weeks excitement. Yep. Our friends have a lttle girl who is 3 weeks younger than Lincoln. It’s great to have local friends who are going through what we are and have their family around… so we can ask them questions about how things are done here πŸ™‚

So, Melek was all lovey-dovey on Lisa, so Erin decided to do the same…. which resulted in a lot of laughter on our part. Thus, the crazy smiles goin on.

That kids face is priceless. He’s adorable… definitely gives Lincoln some competition πŸ™‚ Big shoes to fill.

Amazingly… you can’t see the sleep deprivation in either of our faces. Maybe it was the lighting.

We put him in this super cute outfit…. and I held him for a bit until we ate dinner, but then he slept all night in the carseat and no one even got to see how cute he was at the wedding! I mean, he’s cute just laying there, but the outfit made it even better.

One more for good measure. He’s in his swaddler…. which he sleeps in any time he sleeps. I (stupidly) tried to put him to bed tonight without it and that did NOT go over well. Maybe we’ll try agian in a month πŸ™‚

Life Lately

We’re slowly settling in to life in our city again…. slowly. It’s been a bit harder for me to get motivated to get out and do things. More like, hard to figure out when to do it and it’s easier to just stay in. But this week I have to figure it out. Maybe the boy will get on some sort of scheudle πŸ™‚ Ha.

We did get to hang out with my best friend here on Thursday – breakfast at our other friends little restaurant. HILARIOUS. They seriously make us laugh. A lot. And my friend just held Lincoln for an hour! I kept offering to take him or put him in the stoller or just something so she could finish eating… but she wouldn’t give him up πŸ™‚ I offered her a job as our babysitter, but she already has a job. Hehe.

I’ve also been managing to workout most days and have noticed that my post-baby body is not the same as my pre-baby body πŸ™‚ Which I knew would be the case, but it’s just interesting. Things like jumping which I used to just be able to do no problem are suddenly hard. Not hard, persay, but it actually takes effort now. And most of my muscles feel the same, but I can totally feel my abs wayyy way more. I feel everything now. Which, I guess is a good thing since it means it’s working them and getting them back to normal πŸ™‚

And how ’bout some pictures:

The awesome package from a friend in the states. Even the box was super cute!

The fabulous NC State gear for Lincoln…. and the mustache pacifier that is AWESOME.

Lincoln thinks it’s awesome too….

Our first family picture…. it’s a few weeks old now, but I’m finally getting it up πŸ™‚

family pic with the parents πŸ™‚ and the wind was nuuuuts!!!! thus the hair

Lincoln is definitely starting to look more like Josh. He still has my hair color and maybe he’ll get my eye color? Who knows. At least with Josh’s looks he’ll be handsome πŸ™‚

Annnd this week he started smiling πŸ™‚ i finally got a picture of it today! Ah, he’s so adorable. It’s just too much.

And that’s what’s going on in our little world this week πŸ™‚ OH! One more exciting thing…. we ordered computers! Yaaaay. I’m getting a mac! Woo hoo!!! And Josh got a sweet desktop that came with a free xBox 360. He’s way more excited than I am, but if we can get the Kinnect to go with it, I’d be pretty pumped too πŸ™‚

Annnd me post baby

So, I don’t intend to blog about myself that often, but it’s been a month… so here’s what’s up.

I’m healing pretty well from labor, better and faster than I anticipated. I went in for a check up on Monday with my doctor (myyyy doctor, not scary doctor office again!! she’s recovered from her surgery) and the episio is healing well and the doc was able to do all the post baby tests/checks she needed to do, so, barring any strangeΒ illness or issue, Β we don’t have to go back to the capital again for a year…. at least for me to go to the doctor. That was a relief (more for Josh than me, I don’t mind the capital as much as he does). And I was relieved when she said the stitches would dissolve soon. A friend here had a baby a few years ago and for some reason at that point the country decided to ban dissolveable stithces. What in the world? So, I was concerned I had that kind… but they’re the dissolveable ones. Praise the Lord!

Like I said in the previous post, we’ve been super busy lately, so I’ve been walking and active more than I anticipated during the first month post-partum. I don’t know if that’s why or if working out throughout the pregnancy helped, but I’m down to only 6 or 7 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. I also think, though, that my muscles probably atrophied a bit and I have more fat than before, which weighs less than muscle… but I can fit in my normal clothes, so who knows. I still definitely have the post-preggo bump, but it’s not huge. Now that we’re back home and don’t have a crazy schedule, I have time to start working out again!! I really, really loved being pregnant and it really wasn’t hard on me, but I did really miss sweating and working out hard. So, I did a turbo today and actually worked up a sweat… not that it takes much with the heat/humidity/lack of a/c here… but it was nice. Now, if we can just get the boy into a schedule so I can have a routine, tht would be awesome πŸ™‚

So, yeah. Things are going well. I’m feeling good. And I still miss sleep. That is all.

1 Month Old!!!

Apologies for the lull in posting…. mom and dad got here, then both our computers crashed within a week. Insane. So, now we have a new netbook to last us until someone comes from the states and can bring in a new computer. It’s pretty pathetic how dependent we are on our computer. Just try writing a real email from an iPod and you’ll understand.

Moving on.

I cannot believe Lincoln is a month old (as of yesterday)! It seriously flew by…. I know everyone tells you that will happen, but at 1 or 2 weeks in, it didn’t feel like it. Then my parents came and all the sudden they’re already back in the states and Lincoln is a month old. Geez.

So, at 1 month the boy weighs 4.45 kg and is 53 cm tall. He’s so squirmy all the time…. his arms are always moving and his legs are always kicking. Not that we expected anything different given how Josh and I are, but anyway. He doesn’t really have a schedule yet, which is understandable considering we’ve not been super busy and in the car for half of his life. This week one of the goals is to attempt to start moving towards a schedule. That would be awesome and help out this type-A momma toooons. It is nice to be back in our place with no plans to go anywhere out of town again til October. Whew. This will be the longest stretch of time we’ve been in this city since we moved here. Sad, I know.

Hangin’ out with Sherlock. He’s even got his arm around him πŸ™‚

More about Lincoln. He love bath time already, until we take him out and then he screams. At least it’s warm weather and as soon as he’s in the towel he’s fine. He’s a big fan of the pacie…. and it took a lot of convincing by everyone else for me to give it to him. Everything I read said to wait until they were a month so there’s no issue with nursing, but he’s still nursing well and gaining weight, so no problem there. Well, problem there…. but not because of the pacifier. More because he will not stay still and calm. It takes double the time for him to eat because he keeps moving. Crazy boy.

He did celebrate his sΓΌnnet gΓΌnΓΌ while mom and dad were here…. and I’m so glad they were here!! I definitely made mom give him the suppository pain killer. Couldn’t do it. He screamed until it dissolved. But, he healead well and fast and now he’s all good. And we even have a souvenier:

Yes, they put the removed portion in a test tube for you to take home. What in the world are we supposed to do with this?? I mean, we’re gonna throw it away, of course…. but seriously. Why?!?! And what do normal people here do with it? Gross.

So, the parents came to visit… and it was soooo nice!!! I loved having them here. We have way more pictures, but for now there are only a few on the netbook…. everything else is on the hard drive among the things we salvaged from my computer before it crashed. At some point, I plan to post pictures from their trip, but for now just a few.

Lincoln with Nana. I know people do it all the time, but having a baby without my mom here was hard. And I didn’t even realize it until she came and then left again. Just having someone here to ask all my questions to and help out with small things was sooo great. And just to see mom was awesome. It’s been a year and a half. I also realized that it was maybe a good thing that mom wasn’t able to be at the airport when we left the states because if it had been anything like this I would have been a basket case. I’m sure it had more to do with hormones and culture stress and sleep deprivation, but I couldn’t even talk on the way back to the hotel after we dropped mom and dad off.

This one cracks me up… they almost have the same facial expression.

I LOVE this picture. My dad was pretty funny with Lincoln. He loved holding him and playing with him… until he cried, at which point he handed him off to the nearest person. πŸ™‚ And this was his first trip overseas and I really think he enjoyed himself. He even mentioned possibly coming back next year – never thought that would happen!!! I’m so glad he liked it here.

This is the I’m-so-sad-they’re-leaving picture.

Mom and I with the sleeping boy… it was almost 11pm. Thus the exhaustion and excessive tears.

One last picture with the grandparents. Mom totally rode the whole way to the capital holding Lincoln’s hand (when he wasn’t awake… you can’t hold his hand when he’s awake because they don’t stop long enough to grab them).

And, mom and dad totally brought us toooooons of goodies. Well, mostly for Lincoln, but we did get some things πŸ™‚ Lincoln is set for a while. His gifts were from various friends and family… including an insane amount of goodies from Morgan!!! Love it all, of course. My grandmother sent the handmade blanket she made…. so special. It all got pretty mixed up and we’re not entirely sure what’s from who for the most part… so thanks to everyone πŸ™‚ There is one gift in the mix that was unmistakeable from a friend’s mom back home and of course I had to get a picture.

There are 2 more burp cloths… but I have to admit, I use them more than any others I have now, so they’re dirty. But, how cute is all this stuff!!!! I can’t wait for him to be big enough to wear these onesies πŸ™‚

Another gift came in the mail last week, too… and those pictures are on the hard drive, so they’ll be up eventually.

If you made it through this tremendously long post, thanks for reading πŸ™‚ And I’ll try to update more frequently now that we have a computer again and I’m not completely exhausted all the time.
